Was he thinking at all?
This was the busiest trade-deadline in recent NBA history.
We had big names moving around all week because of the looming NBA trade deadline.
But, until today, what we had not had were any big teams making moves.
Then...Danny Ainge decided he wanted to dance, too.
Ask any NBA fan who the true NBA Championship contenders are.
You'll get something along the lines of: Lakers, Magic, Heat, Mavs, and Spurs.
Everbody's list would also include: The Boston Celtics.
Of the teams mentioned above, how many made trades this week besides Boston?
ZERO. NONE. NINGUNO.
Apparently, everyone but Celtic GM Danny Ainge knows you don't fix what isn't broken.
I trade who I want, when I want...FOO! |
Now they are relying on Glen Davis and old bodies like the O'neal brothers, Jermaine and Shaq -- or as I like to call them, the Old-knee brothers -- to get them back to an NBA Championship?
And, as if giving up talented size in dealing Kendrick Perkins wasn't enough, the Celtics also dealt quality back-up point guard Nate Robinson this week.
That's not basketball smart.
The Celtics lead the Eastern Conference by percentage points and own their biggest rival with a 3-0 record against the Miami Heat...and all while fighting injuries to key players throughout the season.
Ainge seems to have decided he wanted to make a move before the trade deadline just for the sake of making moves.
The luck of the Irish be with you Celtic Fans.
Your GM just disassembled a locker room that had been running like a fine tuned motor.
And he's replacing quality parts with stuff he found in a junk box.
BC for life Foo!
